When we opened in 2017, we wanted a piece of art that captured the creative energy of Avenue C. While brainstorming with Yvette from Babacool Arts, we came across an old blue pick up truck hood—and inspiration struck. Yvette transformed it into the Blue Goddess, a bold, soulful figure who’s become the heart of our space.
She’s everything we hoped for—creative, confident, colorful—and she inspired the question we hear all the time:
What does the “C” in Avenue C stand for?
Creative. Cool. Collaborative. Carefree. Cultural. Clever. Confident. Colorful.
It’s not just a letter—it’s a whole vibe. Just like the Blue Goddess. Just like Avenue C.
Suzanne is a Massachusetts College of Art grad and spent over 30 years as a graphic designer, working in small-sized design agencies on large-sized corporate accounts. Eventually, she traded corporate deadlines for something more creative and personal—and launched Avenue C.
Now an entrepreneur, she’s built a lifestyle she loves—one filled with vintage charm, community connection, and everyday inspiration.
Suzanne is a wife, mom of two, and proud grandmother. Her two little grandkids are regular visitors at the shop—they know exactly where the toy room is!
“So glad I visited this gem of a shop. I found myself wandering through all the nooks and crannies in pure delight! Lots of treasures. Even a cute kid spot! I’ll definitely be back for holiday shopping!"

“Avenue C is my favorite place to shop! The selection is diverse and unique, ranging from antique goods to new artisan crafts ... so I’m ALWAYS able to find the right client gift or fill a home staging need. As a firm believer that shopping small is supportive of community, and as Realtor who has effectively run her own small business for decades, this collective of talented entrepreneurs who inspire me with their amazing creativity and resourcefulness is a shop I’m thrilled to support!"
